Simple Carbohydrates

Simple carbohydrates are sugars. All simple carbohydrates are made of just one or two sugar molecules.

They are the quickest source of energy, as they are very rapidly digested.

                                                                                    Benefits: Gives quick energy, absorbed by the body faster, and can rapidly increase blood sugar.

                                                                                                     Examples: Fruit such as- bananas, mangos, and raisons. Some dairy products- Milk and yogurt.

Complex Carbohydrates

A Carbohydrate, as sucrose or starch, that consists of two or more monosaccharide units.


                                                                             Benefits: Complex carbs help provide a grounding effect to the body and reduce nervousness and anxiety,

                                  Certain carbs like oatmeal, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, bananas, and brown rice contains large amounts of tryptophan , which relax the body and help put you to sleep.

                                                                             Examples: Foods such as- Bread, rice, pasta, and starchy vegetables such as- potatoes, green pees, and corn.

Danger of Carbohydrate overloads

                                                       If you eat to many carbohydrates then needed your body will turn them to fat, can increase chances of type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
